Hi, welcome to the Immediate Chinese website. My name is Ray and I love Chinese.
In a county as large and populated as China is, there is always someone out there doing something crazy, funny or just stupid.
I'll share the best of what I find here. Enjoy.
Fun Statistics:
With China's economy booming and set to be the next superpower and with more and more economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries, more and more schools in the U.S. are beginning to offer Chinese. Still, the most recent data show that only 24,000 students in grades 7-12 study Chinese, a language spoken by 1.3 billion people worldwide. In contrast, every schoolchild in China is studying English by grade 3. There are more people learning English in China than in America!
Chinese is the most widely spoken first language in the world, but less than one-half of one percent of American students taking a foreign language in grades K-12 study Chinese.
